TreeMane

$800.00

20 x 16 inch acrylic on canvas panel

TreeMane is the celestial god that returns to Earth to seek vengeance against those who have oppressed and slaughtered the original descendants of the planet. His tree hair symbolizes the connection the original man has to nature. The frame, which consists of chopped tree stumps, represent the slain ancestors and the art of dendrochronology. Dendrochronology is the scientific method of dating tree rings to the exact year they were formed. In addition to dating trees, we can also gather data for dendroclimatology, the study of climate and atmospheric conditions during different periods in history from wood. I find this to be an interesting parallel being that without history and art, the conditions and climates our ancestors endured would be lost or left to the interpretation of others.

TreeMane is currently on exhibit at the Nia Cultural Center through June 2023. Located at 2217 The Strand Suite 101, Galveston, TX 77550
