A Love Supreme is an exploration of love not simply as an emotion, but as something we continuously build.

The work pays homage to John Coltrane’s spiritual masterpiece A Love Supreme and Robert Indiana’s iconic LOVE sculpture—two artists who transformed a simple word into something much larger: a meditation on devotion, humanity, and our relationship to one another.

Constructed in part from recycled and repurposed materials, the piece also considers sustainability and the responsibility we have to recognize value in what already exists. What has been discarded can be reclaimed, reimagined, and given new purpose—a process that mirrors our own capacity for transformation.

Screws, nuts, bolts, and other hardware are intentionally incorporated throughout the work as symbols of construction and repair. They remind us that neither individuals nor communities are ever truly finished. There are always things to tighten, things to rebuild, things to reconnect, and areas where more work is required.

In that sense, A Love Supreme proposes that love itself is work—not in a burdensome way, but as an ongoing practice. We build ourselves. We build one another. We build our communities.

And perhaps the most supreme expression of love is our willingness to keep doing the work.
